Helpful Tips For Dogs

1. Some tips that might help find your lost pet.

A. Ask your neighbors if they have seen your pet.

B. Always keep a current picture of your pet or have a flyer already made for quick distribution. Areas to place if pet is lost, vet offices, grommers, shelters, stores, bulletin boards, ad in local paper, local radio station.

C. Search at any " dog attractive " places such as schools, parks, garbage dumps. Post flyers in all those areas.

D. Contact all of the shelters in your immediate area every day. Your pet may not be picked up on the first day he or she is lost. Check everyday , even for months. It is possible your pet may have been picked up by someone and later let go.

E.  Contact the shelters within a 2 hour drive of your home. pets can travel long distances. In addition someone who was trying to help you pet could have picked it up in one place and driven somewhere else to turn it in.

F. Be sure to review the deceased animal pick up log at each shelter, to rule out the death of your pet.

G. Place a " lost pet " ad in your local newspaper. Offer a reward if possible.

H. Contact the breed specific rescue organizations that service your area. For example if you have a Smooth Fox Terrier, you would contact the Smooth Fox Terrier rescue group in your local area. If your pet is rescued by breed specific groups they will usually take it to a veterinarian to be given a physical and possible shots. Some groups as well, will have the animal spayed/neutered prior to placing in foster care until adopted.

I. Contact the all breed rescues in your area. If you dog could possibly be confused as  a mixed breed the all breed rescues may have a rescued it.

J. Contact all the veterinarians, dog groomers, and dog trainers, in your area. People may take the dog to a veterinarians to be held until animal control may be called. In addition if someone wants to keep your pet they may try to establish services for  the pet under their name.

K. When contacting rescues, shelters, and veterinarians, check out any dog that might be a possible match. Remember, even if your dog had a collar and tags when it disappeared, it may not have that collar any more.  If someone had your dog and tried to get the phone number off of the tags and took the collar off, the dog could have run off again. Also the collar could have slipped off during the dog's travel.

L. Most importantly when you get a pet, have it spayed/neutered. Altering you pet can reduce the desire to roam and thus add to you pet's safety.

M. Have the proper identification on your pet's Id tag. Only put " if found call( then your number )" or put "Reward if found" call ( your Phone number). Do not put your pets name on the tag, as knowing your dog's name would make it easier for someone to keep your pet.

N.  Consider micro-chipping your animal for identification purposes. ( Information available at your veterinarians office.

Helpful Tips For Windows 98

1.SHUTDOWN ICON

( Short cut )

To put a shutdown icon on your desktop, right-click on your desktop and choose New, Shortcut. In the command line, enter rundll.exe user.exe, exitwindows and then click Next. Choose a name for the shortcut in the next box (probably something like Shut Down) and then click finish.

You can now double-click this icon to shut down your computer, without going to the Start menu.

2. RESTART ICON

( short cut )

Allow you to restart  your computer from your desktop, merely by double-clicking the icon. First, right-click the desktop, click New, and then click Shortcut. Click the Browse button, and navigate to

C:Windows\rundll.exe

and then click Add one space to this command line, and then type

user.exe,ExitWindowsExec

Click Next, and then give your Shortcut a name (Restart should work.) Then click Finish. Whenever you double-click your Restart icon, Windows will restart without you having to go to the Start menu.

3. TRACKING YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION

If you've ever wanted a visual representation of the quality of your Internet connection, you can use the System Monitor in Windows 98 to take a look.the System Monitor by going to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Monitor. As you can see, the System Monitor is a graph that displays information of your choosing. To display information about your Dial-up connection, go to Edit, Add Item and click Dial-up Adaptor (you'll need to connect to the Internet first.) Choose which kind of information you wish to display in the right box and then click OK. System Monitor begins tracking the information you've selected.

4. REMOVING THE DOCUMENTS FOLDER FROM THE START MENU

Want to get the jump on the others with a great resume? Our resume services will help you! . EssayChampions.com gathers the champions of essay writing to assist you with your paper.

It's possible to remove Documents menu, from the start menu. It is indeed, as long as you're comfortable editing the Registry. (Note: As always, we recommend that you first back up your Registry files--User.dat and System.dat, hidden files on the root of your hard drive.) First, go to Start, Run and type regedit to launch the Registry Editor. Then navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Right-click on the white space in the right windowpane and select New, DWORD Value. Name this value NoRecentDocsMenu. Double-click it and then change the number in the Value box to 1. Close RegEdit and restart Windows; the Documents menu will be gone. If you ever want to add it back, you can just navigate back to the same place and change the value to 0.

5. CHANGING A FILE ASSOCIATION WHENNG.

The standard way to change the application associated with a certain kind of file is toa folder and go to View, Folder Options, File Types. It might be easier to change file associations just by changing how youa file. If you hold down the Shift key while right-clicking on a document, you are given an option called Open With. Select this and then choose the program you want tothis particular kind of file with in the future. Check the box that says Always Use This Program ToThis Type Of File before clicking OK, and the file association changes.

6. A NOTE ON HIDDEN FOLDERS.

You can designate any folder on your computer as Hidden by right-clicking it and selecting Properties, then checking the Hidden box and clicking OK. As long as your computer is not set to display hidden files, your hidden files will remain unseen whenever you or someone else browses your computer. (You set your computer to display hidden files byng a folder, going to View, Folder Options, clicking the View tab, and selecting Show All Files.) You should keep in mind, however, that hidden files are in no way secure. They show up on Find searches, for example. So, don't rest too easy if you designate a file as Hidden.
